like a guitar harmony part . I don ’ t know when that happened , but we ’ re sitting there kind of working through something . It ’ s like , “ What if we all come together and play this part together ?” So it ’ s a progression over a few years and some shows . That ’ s how it all came together . But it ’ s really , really fun to get to express ourselves and to worship in that way .
[ WM ] Yes , I like that a lot . Let ’ s talk about your gear for a moment , Franni , do you have an IEM endorsement ?
[ Franni ] We use JH Audio for our in-ears . They ’ ve been really good . Everybody was raving about the Roxanne ’ s and so I got some Roxanne ’ s . But I have to say , I had the 13 ’ s originally , and I love the 13 ’ s . I ’ m actually back on them .
[ WM ] And for your vocal mic ?
[ Franni ] So we use Sennheiser for the wireless . I ’ m trying to remember the capsules . We went through a bunch of different ones and tried a lot of them . It may be a Neumann .
[ Andrew ] We all have a different capsule . We just try ‘ em out for our own voices .
[ WM ] All right . So Andrew , I know you play a lot of instruments , but what have you been doing guitar wise ? You have an endorsement with Martin ?
[ Martin ] Um , yeah , actually I can give you one . ( laughing )
[ Andrew ] That ’ s funny . Martin let ’ s me use his guitars . ( laughing ) You know , it ’ s actually funny , I just did a trial video for some of Martin ’ s ( the guitar company ) new guitars . So yeah , they ’ ve been really great to me . Super fun . So I play a Black Smoke . It ’ s not even one of their more expensive guitars , but it looks really cool and it sounds really great live .
[ WM ] How about for electric , what are you using ?

[ Andrew ] I have a guy , actually I think he ’ s here in Oklahoma . Oops , we ’ re not in Oklahoma . ( laughing )
[ Franni ] ( laughing ) We ’ re in Ohio .
[ Andrew ] Yeah , I thought we in Oklahoma for a minute . That ’ s hilarious .
The guitar company is called Varsity Guitars . And he was super kind and just gave me a great deal . And he is handmade from his garage . He ’ s brilliant . So I use that and I ’ ve played Deusenberg a little bit . It ’ s very expensive , so I don ’ t bring it out too much . ( laughing )
[ WM ] And for an amp on stage , are you using IR ’ s ( Impulse Response ) or you using actual amps ?
[ Andrew ] Yeah , we ’ re using IR ’ s . I use the Iridium by Strymon . Which is great . It ’ s so compact . And then for the rest of the guitars , Scott and Ed both use the Ox by Universal Audio . And they use an amplifier , but there ’ s no live stage noise .
[ WM ] I saw at Winter Jam , Scott was playing some kind of a semi hollow-body . You know what that is ?
[ Andrew ] Yeah . That ’ s a Collings . And he also has a Gibson Flying V that Ed got him for his birthday . ( laughing ) It was actually really awesome . We were playing a show , I think on Scott ’ s birthday . And Ed had the stage tech grab Scott ’ s guitar and take it from him right before the show started . And Scott ’ s like , “ Hey , whatcha doing with my guitar ? I need , I need my guitar !” And then right before he goes on he gives him the Flying V . Oh wow ! So he plays it for the first show . It sounds unreal . It actually does sound great . The best guitar I think he plays .
[ WM ] I ’ ve never seen one Christian musician in all these years with a Flying V . I think that ’ s great .
Martin , we did a feature on your WFLIII drums before . Have you added anything new to it or what ’ s going on with your drum kit ?
[ Martin ] Not a ton new , I added a couple new cymbals since you saw us at the Worship Together Conference . I got new hi-hats . I ’ m playing 12-inch hats , which I love ‘ cause I ’ ve fallen in love with all those classic rock seventies brittle tones .
[ WM ] Who makes those 12 ’ s ?
[ Martin ] It ’ s actually a company called Dream . Typically I would be adamant on the brand staying the same , but in what I was looking for Meinl doesn ’ t make a 12 inch hat . Everything else I play is Meinl cymbals and they are great . I also added an 18-inch China . I think that adds to the rock vibe . Yep . It ’ s fun to whip that out every once in a while .
[ WM ] Right on . Back to the new Live From the Ryman album . Are there any new songs on there ?
[ Andrew ] Yes . Well we did our covers “ Proud Mary ” and “ Johnny B Goode ”, we have not released those before .
[ WM ] I do like when you break into hints of classic rock songs . I heard a snippet of Fleetwood Mac on “ Tread on Me ”.
[ Andrew ] Yes . We had one fan walk out on our show one time . They walked to the merch table to complain .
