Every guitarist wants one more guitar , but budgets are tight in these times . The Donner Seeker series DST-400 solid body electric guitar is cost friendly and yet loaded with some high-end features .
The body shape is a traditional S style that we are all familiar with . The surprising part is the body is constructed from Alder wood which looks stunning under the translucent green / black finish . Alder is getting harder to find on electric guitars these days . The neck is maple with a nut width of 1.67 ″ ( 42.5 mm ) and the 22 fret fretboard is made of Indian Laurel wood .
The pickup configuration has some extra punch with a single coil , single coil , and a humbucker in the bridge position . The 5-way switch provides the pickup selection , but the 2 nd tone knob is a push / pull providing 7 different tone choices . When the knob is pulled up the electronics split the coils for triple single coil sounds .
The chrome hardware on the DST-400 is vintage style with a 2-point tremolo , adjustable saddles , and a pop-in tremolo arm . The input jack is standard S style , and the tuners have that vintage vibe and look . The neck profile is a thinner “ C ” shape which is perfect for younger players or musicians with smaller hands . The body contours are smooth and rounded with
Right out of the box this guitar does not look like a budget instrument . Priced at only $ 259.99 the Donner DST-400 Seeker guitar also includes a gig bag , strap , and a guitar cable . The only downside on this instrument that I could find is that it weighs in at 12.92lbs , which can get a bit heavy if you are standing and playing it for an extended amount of time . But the weight increase is due to the Alder wood body which also provides more sustain and that is a positive .
If you ’ re an acoustic praise team musician looking to add an electric guitar to your palette , an intermediate musician seeking something better , or you just want a fun S style electric solid body the Seeker DST-400 is worth your consideration . I wasn ’ t certain what to expect when we received the guitar at [ WM ] to have a hands-on review .
You would be hard pressed to find a solid body , triple pickup , electric guitar with expanded electronics , gig bag , strap , and cable for under $ 300 on the market today . The DST- 400 is a blast to play , and the praise team and congregation won ’ t believe what you paid for it after you plug it into an amplifier . The money you save purchasing the Seeker guitar can go towards another guitar pedal .
no sharp edges against your body . $ 259.99
