I always tell people don ’ t sleep on BOSS . They continually come up with innovative products and never stop looking to improve their existing product lines . The new boss GX-100 is the little brother to the flagship GT-1000 . It ’ s got the same AIRD technology and adds a clever Drag and Drop Architecture , making creating greatsounding effect chains a breeze . I reviewed the popular ME-80 a few years back . The new GX-100 is about the same size but on a whole other level with a huge upgrade in technology , ease of use , and professional sound .
OUT OF THE BOX : The GX-100 weighs in at about 8 pounds . It ’ s 18 ” wide by 71 / 2 “ deep and comes tightly packed in a beautiful box , with a manual and a Roland PSB-1U power adapter . I like how Roland labels their power adaptors with the name of the product they belong to . The unit is made of sturdy aluminum .
On the top left is a large bright sharp color LCD screen . This is where you easily will drag and drop different pedal effects into your effects chain and edit them . Underneath the LCD screen , four knobs are automatically assigned to the parameters of the pedal you touch select . This makes for quick tweaking . There are 154 fantastic pedal emulations , and you can have up to 15 running at the same time . Many of BOSS ’ s cool effects like the Space Echo , Rotary , and Heavy Metal are included . There are also great effects for bass and acoustic guitar . I found 20 different guitar amps and three bass amps .
