The famous French Focal company is found in the city of Saint-Étienne .
OUT OF THE BOX : Alpha 50 Evo comes in a sturdy box in a box with fitted foam for protection .
Included are a power cable , optional woofer / tweeter covers , and a product manual . The monitors weigh in at 13 lbs . each . The outside has been re-imagined with a very modern look with black vinyl and paint . The blue-tinted 5-inch Slate-fiber Cone Woofer has been newly designed to be very efficient and manufactured at the Saint-Étienne factory . It ' s created using a combination of carbon fibers and thermoplastic polymers for rigidity , sound velocity , and dampening . The 1-inch aluminum inverted dome-shaped tweeter has a waveguide to allow for a wider sweet spot and less influence from the cabinet surface . The Bass Port has been re-designed with flares both inside and out . On the back are three signal input options , XLR , ¼ inch TRS , and even RCA . There is an auto-off switch engaging standby mode when there is no signal for 15 minutes . Alpha 50 Evo boasts of a 45Hz to 22kHz range . There are separate controls for bass and treble settings . Bass / Midrange is adjustable plus or minus 6dB from 0 to 250 Hz . Treble level goes plus or minus 3 dB from 4.5 -35kHz. Also , there ' s two convenient wall fastening mounts . Lastly , there ' s an IEC style A fused power jack .
They are known for their signature-sounding world-class studio monitors and have upgraded their beloved Alpha line with many great new features . The new EVO designation represents an evolution and next-generation technology . There are two new Alpha Evo Monitors in this series . The Alpha 65 EVO , with a 6 ½ inch woofer , and the Alpha 50 Evo with a 5-inch woofer . They both have an attractive price point .
