Triangle Before making your initial strike in a musical passage, give the triangle an inaudible tap with your finger so the instrument will be vibrating when you begin playing.
Play the triangle using the upper third of the striker.
My general striking area is about a third of the way down from the top corner. I prefer the tone produced by striking the triangle on the leg across from the opening.
Experiment with your triangles to find a striking area that will produce an abundance of overtones. A triangle tone lacking a strong definite pitch while possessing a rich array of overtones will blend better with the definitepitched instruments in an ensemble.
The percussion universe is replete with handheld instruments with fascinating tones ready to spark your imagination. Broaden your percussion expertise by exploring the tonal and creative possibilities in these small, yet powerful tools.
