cool feature is that you can morph between any two presets. My favorite combinations are mixing Harmonic Tremolo with the Rotary and the Phaser with the“ Univibe” sound. I like that by turning the Mood knob between two settings, you can dial just the right combination. I also used a standard expression pedal for the live morphing. It’ s very smooth and sounds like turning a knob on an analog pedal. ELIPSE, like the two other Kernom pedals, has a patented Analog Morphing Core ® technology. This allows MIDI control of the analog augmented signal path. It’ s not easy to do correctly, and these guys pulled it off. There are 128 MIDI-recallable presets on this pedal. Many more than I could ever imagine needing. The manual has a very thorough explanation of how to create, store, and recall MIDI presets. The Mix knob has a detent at 12:00 for a perfect 50 / 50 mix. And the Swirl knob is one of my favorites. It adds
a secondary sweep-layer to your effect. To the left, the knob’ s sweep starts with a slow phaser, then, passing 12:00, it adds the lovely drive effect. It’ s a very cool addition, making for lots of modern takes on classic effects. Another important feature is that both Harmonic Tremolo and Chorus / Vibrato are affected by the Mix knob. The Harmonic Tremolo will typically be at 12:00, and to the far right of that, it’ s all Tremolo. Likewise, Chorus will be at 12:00, and after that, to the far right, Vibrato.
MY TAKEAWAY: The pedal looks modern, and everything about it feels high-end. The sounds are beautiful, and you can feel the analog warmth. Of course, the chorus / vibrato is probably going to be one of the most used, and I love how it sounds, along with the harmonic tremolo. It’ s a nice musical tremolo. I will say that the vibe is also super sweet, especially with the swirl distortion. It can get very Hendrix-like. I enjoyed the MIDI capabilities, and if you are heavy in MIDI, you’ ll appreciate that. You can simply save presets or even morph via a DAW’ s MIDI, etc. I was a little disappointed that the pedal is mono. My workaround is to put it before the stereo delays, like in the Eventide H-90. This way I can still get the width I’ m looking for. Classic effects were mostly originally mono. The mono Vibe and Vibrato are often still mono effects anyway. Beyond that, the quality of the effects is very good, and I think Kernom did a solid job on this multi-effect pedal. There’ s a ton to like in this pedal, and I think you could easily fall in love with it. It can handle all your modulation needs in one pedal.
