Before we dive into this Vintera Road Worn electric you will want to know that this is one of five different Telecaster models released as the 75 th Anniversary Telecaster ® Collection. Fender is celebrating threequarters of a century of foundational tone and revolutionary design. Each 75 th Anniversary Telecaster model showcases the heritage and legendary tones that have made the Tele ® an unrivaled icon.
When it comes to modern worship guitarists – the Tele is at the top of the heap of guitar models played on church platforms. All price points too, from Corona, CA made to Ensenada, Mexico to older Japanese ones( I have owned one of those before) I got to choose which one of the five for Fender to ship me and it was a tough choice. I have owned before a 1954 all original whiteguard Tele and I currently have a U. S. made 1972 Thinline Tele and a MIM( Made in Mexico) Thinline Tele as well from the early 2,000’ s … so I have a few of the different eras in my memory bank to draw from.
I selected the Vintera Road Worn as I wanted to go back as close to the start as I could with what Leo Fender had brought us. A guitar that really did change the landscape of electric guitar and has continued to this day. Quite a feat for a guy that wanted to find a way to mass produce an instrument and keep it easy to repair. Read the history of the Broadcaster turning into the Nocaster and then finally in 1951 being dubbed the Telecaster in Southern California. Music was never the same. I grew up in Southern California, and the surf culture and Fender guitars were synonymous. It was something. Of course, Teles weren’ t limited to one geographical region or one music genre. They are everywhere and in all types of modern music.
