I’ m proud of Eventide for collaborating with a guy like Jack White on this creative pedal. The“ Knife Drop” is a unique blend of Octave, Fuzz, and an Envelope filter that renders fantastic creative sounds. It’ s perfect for memorable lines that easily cut through any mix. It’ s equally suited for Pad-like sounds where the Envelope filter shows off its unruly effect. The Knife Drop is marketed as a pedal of sonic chaos. It finds a creative home in the worship world, providing an innovative and unusual sound to make your song enjoyable and memorable.
OUT OF THE BOX: Knife Drop is one of Eventide’ s dot-9 series pedals. It comes in a cool yellow box with an old-school Italian film theme. Inside is the pedal, a switching power supply with multiple international adaptors, a handy quick-start trifold, rubber feet, a nice sticker, and a guitar pick. There are two color options: a black pedal with yellow and white writing or the limitededition yellow pedal with black writing.( only available through Third Man Hardware). For the review, we have the black pedal with the yellow writing. On top are three dual-purpose knobs, Synth, Drive and Level. There is a small button to the right, and when you press and hold it, the knobs now become Attack, Resonance, and Cutoff. There are two footswitches, Active and Octaves. They each have a push button LED that corresponds with different functions. On the pedal’ s left side are five red LED indicators for five presets on board. On the back is a stereo TRS input with individual left and right outputs and a 1 / 4-inch Expression Jack. You’ ll also find a USB mini jack and a 9 Volt DC Boss-type power Jack. There are also two mini switches on the bottom, one for mono / stereo and one for guitar / line input.
IN USE: First, I added the US adapter to the power supply and plugged it into the unit. I went stereo in with a TRS to two T / S“ Y” cables, stereo out into the UA Enigmatic Overdrive amp simulator,
