Conflicts are inevitable in any group setting, and worship teams are no exception. When passionate individuals with different personalities, opinions, and musical styles come together, disagreements can arise. However, with great communication, empathy, and a willingness to resolve issues, worship teams can overcome conflicts and create a harmonious and meaningful worship experience.
CONFLICT 1: THE SECOND GUITARIST PLAYING YOUR PARTS ON PURPOSE
I remember this one time I had the chance to play at one of the biggest churches in the world. It was a huge honor but a very unpleasant experience. The other guitar player was all over the place and didn’ t give me any space to play at all. He was playing melody parts then he’ d go to playing chords and rhythm parts. It was driving me crazy, and I felt very disrespected.
I’ m pretty sure he had me all the way turned down in his in-ears. I had to use every grain of patience I had to not get visibly upset and not take it personal. This happens all the time in worship teams.
