software gives access to the PreSonus Fat Channel with vintage processors and vocal effects where you are able to dive deep into the channel settings ( HPF , Gate , Compression , EQ , Limiter ) like you can on a StudioLive sound board . The vocal processor has a load of presets that are fully customizable where you can save your own presets .
Looking at the Revelator io24 out of the box , it also has the same study construction found on the microphone . Different from other interfaces I have , the io24 is angled on the top providing a larger front face where we find two XLR / TRS combo inputs with XMAX-L mic preamps . There are two selector buttons for the channels allowing you to set gains and make needed adjustments on each channel and there is a preset button for each channel . The software allows you to save two separate preset options for each input … you can customize your preset for vocal , guitar , keys , or whatever you are plugging in . There is a mute button on the front
and ¼ ” headphone and main L / R output on the back .
The io24 will connect to Studio One or any DAW for recording , or it can utilize the same Universal Control software as the Revelator microphone . The differences in the UC control software are that there are two microphone channels , both with the PreSonus Fat Channel , and there are up to two presets per channel rather than the four available to the Revelator microphone . The onboard screen is easy to understand and navigate with the selector dial .
So , for example , I listen to a few podcasts where an interview often takes place over Skype or Zoom . For those instances , the podcaster could use the Revelator microphone ( or io24 ) for their own voice , use the playback channel for some special podcast music , and use Virtual A or B for the Skype or Zoom audio coming in . The output , Stream Mix A , could then be going to YouTube and the Stream Mix
B could be sent to Studio One to record or it could go back to Skype or Zoom or many other options or needs .
Way to go PreSonus ! In this day and age of bloggers and live-streamers , this is a perfect solution . The Revelator USB-C Microphone has a street price of $ 179.99 and the io24 is $ 199.95 .
