ours , there were about 400 people there . And I got on stage with Phil and played with him a few songs . But that was the beginning of a relationship with Phil that we carried on . And now we meet about once a month and go eat barbecue and hang out .
[ WM ] Speaking of Phil , tell us about which looper you are using ? Are you using a JamMan like Phil does or are you using something different ?
[ Spence ] These days I have an Electro Harmonics 95000 . It ' s a pretty big unit . I really enjoy using it because it actually has faders on it . So it ' s real easy to reach down and if you need to bump up your mixed volume for a previous loop or bring it down , you could do it on the fly pretty easily .

And then at some point you burned out on music and went to selling cars with your Dad . So with your Dad , what guitar skills had you acquired that translated into moving automobiles ?
[ Spence ] ( laughing ) If closing the deal on a Buick would be helped by me coming out and playing “ Sweet Home Alabama ”, I would do it in a heartbeat . I was working regular business hours throughout the day and then I would work through the night recording these bands when they would get off work . So pulling long hours it just became such a grind that I did burn out . I didn ' t even really want to look at a guitar for a little while . And Dad offered me the position of coming on and doing sales , but also Finance & Insurance with him .
I really wouldn ' t trade that time for anything , because I got to spend ten years working with my Dad . And I still got to travel on the weekends with a gentleman named Adam Paul photo : Chris Lassiter
