NEW MUSIC alongside a bleeding Jesus in the Garden as he prepares for what is to come on the hill of Calvary .
The chorus is a hook-filled celebration of praise to the lamb who took every sin upon Him that day . It is memorable , full of scriptural truth , Gospel centered and will stick in your head for weeks . This chorus is a prime example of simple , yet complex writing that makes a worship song great .
HONOR AND GLORY
Honor and Glory “ Victory ” sets the vertical worship tone of the album straight away with its in-your-face proclamation of the incredible power of God over all things . The driving guitars , 80 ’ s synth and rhythmic drums play a role in make this song a rousing shout of celebration of what God has done .
Verse two brings in a little more instrumentation and the familiar loop of verse one as we now hear about how what Jesus did was not only a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy , but also of the law . This wonderful exposition into the necessary harmony of law and gospel is truly unique and sets this simple song on its own musical pedestal .
Chorus 2 brings bigger instrumentation as the energy builds while giving us a second version of the original melody line but which now points us to the result of the fulfillment of prophecy and of the law ; the complete removal and cleansing of sin in us .
Verse 3 follows this lyrical vein as the music is scaled back and only Tweito ’ s Leeland-esque tenor declares ; “ My sins are now removed , yes , every one . Taken by my Jesus on the cross . As far as east from west , I see His righteousness . My sins are now removed . Oh praise Him !” The final chorus also adds another different line that speaks to the resurrection of Jesus which serves as a perfect bookend to this Gospel rich song .
As I am writing this , this tune is already in our Sunday worship setlist this coming week and I am excited to sing it and teach it to our folks . Honestly , at first listen , one might not find anything too exciting or outstanding about this hidden gem , but stick with it and it will motivate your spirit and point you to the heart of the Gospel .

Honor and Glory is a new worship collection from the members of the Christian rock band , Disciple that includes band members Kevin Young , Josiah Prince , Joey West , and Andrew Stanton , with additional support from Dane Allen of LOYALS and Marco Pera of Amongst the Giants . The intertwining of the three bands create a raw and edgy brand of worship rock reminding this reviewer of Switchfoot or Skillet . Their self-titled debut worship release is a nice mixture of original songs and new interpretations of some modern well known worship offerings .
“ Fear of Missing Out ” keeps the energy up with energetic loops , power chords and soaring vocals while reminding the listener to always keep their eyes focused on the majesty of Christ and all the blessings we daily receive .
Their take on Phil Wickham ’ s “ Battle Belongs ” is quite a bit heavier than the original and features some really tight guitar work while “ Glory of God ” actually borrows the chorus from the Disciple song , “ Radical ” as front man , Kevin Young passionately calls for every believer to give every part of themselves to Jesus .
Fans of Disciple will really enjoy these songs and there are a few that stand out , but the driving force of this collection is Young ’ s passionate vocals and the gritty guitar work throughout . Lyrically , the album is a bit contrived and cliché heavy at times which made a few of songs fall flat … but overall , fans of worship rock will enjoy this first offering from Honor and Glory .
