What can you tell us about that song and that experience ?
[ Anne ] I debuted “ My Jesus ” at The Grand Ole Opry and that was the coolest experience that I ' ve ever had . Everyone always asks me , " What was your favorite experience of 2021 ?", and by far my favorite was getting to be on the Opry stage . It ’ s number one because of all the history . It ' s so cool to be able to stand in a circle and especially like you said with me loving country music and having that background . What was even more amazing about it was being able to share the Gospel in that type of an environment , and it was a sold-out night , which I think is somewhere around 4,000 people . I will be going back to the Opry to sing “ Sunday Sermons ”.
Just getting to know that there ' s so many people in that audience that didn ' t know God , and there are so many people that probably have never experienced the love of Jesus . I was able to share that with them , and that was what was amazing for me . So , it was truly a remarkable experience , and it really honored me , and it was an honor for me , and it really humbled me to be in that circle and be able to share my story and my songs with all of those people . It has so much history , and that specifically means so much to me and my family , especially my brother Jacob and me would listen to country music all the time in the car on the radio . And so , it reminds me a lot of Jacob . I remember it and I know that he ' s watching over me and that he ' s there with me in spirit . But it was an amazing experience , and I ' m looking forward to going back .
Circle of Wood returned to Grand Ole Opry House stage
When I was a little girl , we ' d always listen to Dolly Parton . Those are the two artists that I just loved growing up . I really do love modern country as well . So , I like any type of old country or modern country music .
[ WM ] I love the video for your song , “ Sunday Sermons ”! The main character in the video is so thoughtful in doing the Gospel , with acts of love and kindness to those he comes across . It ’ s very moving .
Sunday Sermons
[ Anne ] Yeah , that was my thing when we were working on the music video plan . The song is a very powerful song and the heart behind it . The song is about reflecting on all of your Sunday Sermons and how God has used those to change your life and fulfill that ambition in you . I wanted to make a storyline of the video that really spoke about the heart behind it .
So , I worked with the director on it , and we spent months on this music video perfecting every detail of it . He just presented me this
[ WM ] Well , just out of curiosity , what country music were you raised on ?
[ Anne ] I was raised on a lot of old classic country music . Johnny Cash is one of my favorite artists to listen to with my brother . I listen to a lot of Dolly Parton . My mom ' s mom , so my grandma , she passed away several years ago . She loved Dolly Parton . That was her favorite artist .
