age . I always had a desire to expand on my knowledge and decided to take courses on electronics engineering , web development , and computer programming . Little did I know , at that time I was being prepped / groomed for what would later become JET Pedals .
[ WM ] How would you describe your unique reverb effects in your Revelation 2.0 pedal to a guitarist ?
[ Junior ] We wanted to create something that was super versatile , easy to use , yet could create massive stereo ambient soundscapes . I used to own another super popular “ big blue box ” reverb pedal but quickly noticed that I only used 2 or 3 different sounds / algorithms and didn ’ t have a need for all of the other features and functionality it offered . So , the
Revelation was born out of some of my favorite sounds that I used the most often . At the core , everything is based on a hall type reverb which has a nice full frequency range offering lots of complex overtones with plenty of lows and balanced highs . With the decay turned down , you get a nice “ large room ” type of reverb and as the decay turns up you quickly become surrounded by rich and modulated trails that almost swirl underneath your core tone .
[ WM ] A lot of your effort is aimed at the “ fully MIDI programmable ” platform . There is a shift in guitarists going this direction . For those of us that are new to the concept , can you please fill us in on the merits of that ?
[ Junior ] You are right , gone are the days of a “ simple ” pedal that has two simple options , “ set it and forget it ” and “ on / off ”. More and more builders are cramming in all kinds of features which give the users lots of tweak-ability . What good do all these features do if they are very difficult to make adjustments on the fly and / or mid song ? Insert MIDI , which is just a universal way of talking to each MIDI enabled pedal to make quick and easy adjustments to every feature within your pedals .
[ WM ] I like that you care about your customers . You serve a lot of other worship guitar players and being one yourself , you have some good insights into what they are after . When you are designing your pedals , tell us what thoughts run through your head regarding using JET products specifically for worship music ?
