always exemplified sincerity . The longing and neediness that the woman must have felt who wanted to touch the hem of Jesus ’ garment to be healed was perfect for Lisa to sing . I , for obvious reasons , love to hear her sing … I don ’ t think I ’ m alone in this .
“ Mountain Song ” was originally just going to be strictly an instrumental song . As I was working on it , I wrote the third part with a melody in mind . Originally , I was thinking of an oboe ( type sound ) with a lot of reverb to do the melody , but it just seemed a bit strange that I ’ d have an oboe on my instrumental guitar album . So , I wrote lyrics . I wanted a vocal that maybe sounded like it could have been sung in an elvish forest , you know , mystical and enchanting , and Madi came to my mind . So , I asked her , and she said , “ Yes ”, and did an amazing job ! So good . Our families have been friends for some time .
[ WM ] Over the years you and your sons have appeared on each other ’ s album projects with yours being the most recent . What can you tell us about family collaboration ?
[ John ] We are there for each other . It ’ s common for each of them to send new songs and new mixes of songs to Lisa and my way for input . The reverse is true as well . This process is ongoing and has become , for some years now , just a part of how things are done . direction . They also have access to and are friends with players that are just great at parts and getting sounds .

[ WM ] Evan , your Dad and Bob Bennett cowrote the song “ Mercies ”, and you sang the vocal on it . I love both yours and Phil ’ s performances on the project . What can you tell us about this recording and growing up Wickham ?
As far as playing on their albums , I have played on a few of Evan ’ s and Philip ’ s albums and am open to whatever they may need or want . Both boys not only play guitar extremely well , but they also have no shortage of vision and
[ Evan ] Twenty years ago my Dad pieced together a home studio . Right away he helped me make my first record . That record became catalytic in realizing God ’ s vision for my life as a worship leader and church planter . Two
