switch for toggling between the five presets , or Tap Tempo . Just above it is a red LED button that selects the Tap mode . On the left side is a row of five preset LEDs .
On the back , you will find four ¼ Jacks . Input is T / S for Mono or TRS for Stereo . Out 1 , Out 2 , and Expression / MIDI . There is a mini Mono / Stereo switch below along with a mini Guitar / Line level switch . Also , a 9vDC center negative jack drawing 200mA , and lastly the USB mini-B connector for updates , MIDI , and connecting with the Eventide Device Manager .
IN USE First of all , I ' m possibly biased since I love Eventide everything . The H9 was life-changing for many of us . Since I have access to delays and such , I tended to lean on the 949 Harmonizer patches a lot playing live . It ’ s hard to decide which amazing patch to use since it ’ s only one at a time . Now with the MicroPitch Delay , the H9 is free to do other cool things . I love being able to access the knobs on top . It was genius to make them all Dual-Function , and the layout is very logical . Having both Stereo-Pitch-Shift and independent Stereo Delay is awesome . Like the H9 , just plugging into the pedal makes the guitar sound better somehow . It may be some buffering or something else special going on there .
At first sight , I had a feeling that it might be complicated to use . But then I watched a video on the website and I was ready to go . The layout is actually very intuitive , and simple . The quality of processing is fantastic . The pedal has five presets immediately accessible , and can hold 127 internally . Using the Stereo output , Pitch A and B are normally panned hard left and right . A goes all the way to Plus 50 cents in pitch , and B goes Down by 50 cents . One of my favorite ( leave on all the time ) rhythm patches is the Classic A + 10 cents with B-10 cents . FYI , there are 100 cents total between any semitone ( half step ). Mixing that in with the direct signal , or bypassing the direct with just the pitched signal sounds great for that 80 ’ s guitar solo . In Tap Tempo mode , the Pitch A / B knobs select delay divisions like ¼ , dot , and Triplet .
Live , I can get a lot of mileage from the five presets . I ' ve set up a simple Harmonizer like the one described above , a Modulating Chorus , an H3000 pitch shift , Dotted Delay with Mod , and a vibey Ambient Swirly Delay with Modulation . Each one can be tempo controlled via the Expression pedal on the back .
EDM stands for Eventide Device Manager . With this app , you can audition 50 + factory presets with room for 127 total . It ' s a great GUI , and very user-friendly for coming up with exciting sounds .
TAKE AWAY I could go on and on about how great this pedal sounds . Since it has the Line Level option , it works great as a piece of outboard studio gear . The pedal is very quiet and very powerful . It ’ s got the unique Eventide signature sound , and there isn ' t anything that sounds exactly like it other than the H9 . If you are looking for a special pedal to accomplish stereo delays and modulation , MicroPitch Delay will not disappoint .
