KI UNIQUE SEASON OF What a unique season of ministry we are in. So much has changed and shifted. For many there has been new ground taken. How you do church in recent weeks resembles nothing of how it looked just a few months back at the start of the year. they watch. So how you to change and shift. L audience based on how Well that option is off th I lead? How will you lea me to ask these questio Last week I was having a conversation with Kidmin leaders about leading VBS worship online and how to navigate that. Following that conversation, I happened to watch an Instagram live where the worship leader was talking about how different it is to lead worship when there’s not an audience you can see. This got me thinking and feeling nostalgic. I’ll never forget when I made the change to in-ear monitors twenty years ago. (By the way I am a total fan and hate a stage wedge with a passion. It’s the difference of hearing like you think your thoughts vs. trying to catch something that’s disappearing in the air and can’t be caught.) When I started using IEM is before there were filters to allow for some room noise to be heard and even before sound guys starting micing the room and sending it to your in ears so you can “hear” the crowd response. I used them once and never went back to stage monitors but the learning curve at the time for me was to start reading faces instead of relying on the response I could hear. I could no longer hear my audience so I had to start reading body language and facial expressions to help me navigate how to engage my audience. Well, here we are twenty years later and there’s something new to learn again. Leading an audience you can’t see. In most cases you’re even leading an audience where you can’t see the social media hearts and thumbs up icons that float up the screen as 1. ARE YOU RELYING ON GO AS YOU PLAN? As you choose your son what is going to be tau best choose songs tha just filling in the slots on are you starting with pra help you navigate and c wants you to lead? 2. WHAT ARE YOU INVITING I’ve asked this questi leading specific ages an if what I’m doing with tho I should be doing with th to problem solve just by the evidence. But, in this question takes on som would encourage you to a strategy for where yo you lead. Share this as to get involved. Remind is for. Encourage them their couch and watch. they can participate an all encourage them to ta God through your times them to draw near to t the songs. Don’t just tra make the transition bec involved. 62 June 2020
