or we put on an album or whatever it is, and
get before the Lord and worship, not only
are we reminded of who He is, but we are
reminded of who we are in Him. I think that’s
the beautiful thing about worship, it just realigns
our focus. Its really important for us as believers
to remember that God remains the same, He is
faithful and He is good, and worship is such a
powerful way to do that.
[WM] Let’s talk about the new project, Church,
Volume One (and Two). Volume One has just
released and I believe Volume Two is out now
as well. This was all recorded live on four
consecutive Sundays, capturing and accurately
reflecting the essence and experience of
Sunday worship at Jesus Culture Church. Tell
us about the project overall, and its themes. I’ll
ask you about some specific songs next.
[Kim] When we started talking about our next
recording, we asked ourselves did we want
to do a recording, and what did we want it to
look like, all of those things. One thing that kept
coming up time and time again was how we
all felt this pull and tug and a contending for
something that is reminiscent of long ago, when
we first started. What I mean by that is, when
we first started making music and recording our
own music and putting stuff out there into the
world, our intention was only to help teenagers
connect with Jesus in their own home, or in
their cars, wherever they were listening to the
music, so that when they came back to the
conference the next summer we could actually
disciple them further and grow them further.
Because what we were finding was that they
were having this moment with Jesus but then
going back to life and not really have the tools
to keep the momentum and the fire. So, we
thought if we could give them something to
help fuel that worship and connection to Jesus
maybe it will help with the growth, and that’s
exactly what happened!
So our intent was never to become a band, or
create a record label, or to grow into this thing,
it was kind of like the Lord just breathed on it
and birthed all of that out of the music, which
was incredible. And we
out into the world at th
music industry, there we
