On January 24th, 2019, Matt will be headlining
the 10 th Annual Night of Worship at NAMM,
which [WM] co-founded with our friends at
Yamaha. This event is near and dear to our
hearts as it is a great opportunity to share our
faith and music with our friends in the music
gear industry. With headliners like Lauren Daigle
(2018), and Lincoln Brewster (2017), these
events are also a great platform to share the
depth and breadth of talent inside the worship
community.
The NAMM Night of Worship also offered
another unique opportunity. Traditionally we
interview artists like Matt around new releases,
but since Matt will be our headliner, we thought
it would be a great opportunity for Matt share
his thoughts and his heart on worship leading,
songwriting, and sharing his music for the
NAMM community.
[WM] Since you’re in between releases, we’re
excited to have the chance to focus on Matt

incredible accomplished talent or inspired
creativity, and you know that came from Him
even if they’re not using that gift for Him. But
for me, I don’t really write love songs, I don’t
write political songs, I don’t write story songs,
for me it’s always worship. My heart beats for
congregational worship, the people of God
singing their hearts out to Him. Singing truth
about Him is going to be helpful to them and My interest in music was amplified greatly once I had no desire to get onto a stage, and in fact
honoring to Him. And I think the reason for that I discovered worship music. I was this little kid I was petrified by the idea of that. I just wanted
is if you go way back to what got me into this growing up in a brilliant church that had some to play these songs at home because I found
whole thing, I wasn’t really a musician before I fantastic ways of expressing worship through them so reassuring and so fun to sing. I had
got interested in worship music. music and it just captivated me from an early a troubled childhood and teenage years, and
age. I just wanted to play these songs at home, really the music was a safe place for me. I like
