great to have professional players, but that defeats the purposes of why we are there. I’m not saying that you have to be perfect to be up on a stage. Jesus called the most broken of people to be leaders in the church and He uses us as sinners. So, by no means am I saying you have to be perfect to be on that stage, because no one is perfect. But there has to be that desire and that position of being on your knees with your face down. And that’s because no matter our abilities, no matter what we can do, to be on this stage and to lead another person in worship, we have to completely humble ourselves first as a worship team to have any authority in Christ to lead somebody in worship. So, if we’re just getting on there with the mindset of, “This is a job, I’m getting this paycheck” we’re not coming into that Sunday morning thinking, “This is a privilege, and no matter how much I fall short, or no matter how much I’m a sinner, I’m going to humble myself. Repent. I’m going to see God’s face, and I’m going to ask Him to use me in my brokenness as a tool this Sunday morning.” And I think that is the biggest first step in leading worship, and everything else stems out from there. Realizing that, yes, we need to present our best to God, but our best doesn’t mean we need to have the best players. But rather, we need to have a team that’s committed to present our best hearts, our best minds, and our best selves to God first. And then present our best gifts to God. I think the hardest things for me is that this is an opportunity to present a gift to God. And that means that you want to be as much in the right mindset and spirit as you can be first. And it’s also realizing that we’re called to lead each other as a congregation as well. It is equally as important to the congregation to be leading the worship leaders as well. But everyone in We shouldn’t view it as one person leading you a shift in mindset.
