“Why don’t you invite me into the story?” From
a place of rest, you flourish. He closed with,
“There is rest because of the finished work of
Jesus. There is healing and wholeness that
comes from Christ.” I needed to hear this!
Then worship continued on with Pat Barrett,
Jason Upton, and wrapped with a solo
performance from Phil Wickham. The sound of
his voice and guitar did an amazing job of filling
the room. Truly something to behold.
Saturday morning opened with a lively set
Matt Redman and his phenomenal band.
Then Pastor Darren Whitehead from Church
of the City gave a powerful message about
‘collaboration not competition’. Running your
race and not someone else’s. Don’t compare
yourself to others – it is your calling so do don’t
try to live in someone else’s. And as a great
reminder to us all, worship Jesus – not ministry.

Matt Redman came back to wrap up the
conference with several great songs and close
out with his powerful refrain, “Holding nothing
back. I surrender. Here I am God... arms wide
open. Pouring out my life... Gracefully broken” –
perfectly summing up the entire event.
The conference ended at noon so folks would
have enough time to travel back to their
home churches. I am confident from the vibe
in the lobby that the attendees returned both
encouraged and refueled.
It was a special time of immersion and

rejuvenation for the worship leaders, pastors,
creative arts pastors, and musicians who
attended. They give out so much, and it is
imperative that they get some time to be
refreshed themselves – I know I was. At times,
I felt both broken and filled by the Lord at the
same time. It was an amazing experience!
If you missed Worship Together this year, I’d
strongly suggest attending Worship Together
2020 (January 30 th through February 1 st ). You
won’t regret it!
