wouldn’t steal his picks (laughs). I had a good chat with him about why I’m playing with a pick now. I wanted to learn alternate picking and sweep picking and all of the other stuff. [WM] How much variation is there between your live rig and what you use in the studio? Planetshakers Bass Feature // “Alive Again” Planetshakers // “Heart Song” different setups. In the studio, a lot of stuff a little bit of a crunch tube thing that just sounds Pastor Sam, Pastor Russell’s wife who is one of is involved. On the road, I love having a little gorgeous. I use those three pedals more than our great worship leaders, she turned around compact thing that’s just easy to travel with. anything else in my life, they’re just the best. I’ve to me and she said, “Just play something…” so I’ve been experimenting with the Mooer pedals also got a Mooer ShimVerb, which I don’t really I put on my ShimVerb and just started playing that are just really small and really compact. I use unless I’m doing a solo thing. I don’t know if some chords, and that ended up being “Heart now have a Mooer volume pedal, which is tiny you’re familiar with “Heart Song”, which is kind Song”. It was really cool. So, I don’t really touch and so compact and it’s fun, and it’s powered of a tag at the end of one of the Planetshakers that unless there’s a reason for it, I don’t want to so it’s quite responsive. At the moment, I’m songs on an album gone by. That was literally muddy up the mix, but if there’s an opportunity also running a tuning pedal, and I’ve got my just a worship moment, it wasn’t going to be a for me to poke out a little bit more then I’ll chuck old faithful Darkglass Microtubes, which is just song in itself but we were just worshiping and some ‘verb on. I also have a delay, one of the [Josh] In the studio and on the road are two Boss DD 20’s, which is fun. I used that recently as a loop pedal, because you can do that, and me and my wife did a song together. I use that as a delay as well, but again, if you don’t use it strategically it’s just going to muddy things up so I don’t use it too much. But those are the five things on my pedal board at the moment. I’ve got a wireless unit, it’s by Shure which is nice. I had a compressor pedal on there as well that broke (laughs), I find that a lot of my things just break. With touring life, that’s half the fun. Then in the studio we use all kinds of things, we’re always experimenting, always playing with different ideas and different sounds, different basses. I love the Chris Lord-Alge bass amp module, that’s really nice. We use that on a lot in the studio as well as the Native Instruments Guitar Rig. There’s some cool stuff, and there lots of different things that we can talk about in the studio. But on the road, it’s really only those five pedals I’m using at the moment. [WM] What are your thoughts on reading music, charts, diatonic numbers, Nashville numbers and so on? [Josh] I guess it really depends on what you want to do and how far you want to take your playing.
