man, our hearts just connected and out of that
relationship I think I now have three Goodall’s
that I travel and play with. I have one of their
guitars with me right now traveling across the
UK, and everybody else’s acoustics kind of get
buzzy and crazy with the climate change and
the Goodall just stays consistent.
[WM] As a worship leader, songwriter, and
musician, can you describe your relationship
with the acoustic guitar?
[Sean] It’s my first love. I think you can get all
the electrics you want, all the pedals and killer
tones you want, but it all comes back to just the
warmth and the clarity and the feel of a great
acoustic. But again, that’s how I learned to play
worship, that’s what I learned to write music
on, so for me there’s a bit of nostalgia in there
as well.
[WM] There are so many photos of you in
different places in the world, guitar in hand. Can
you describe the journey and the conversation
between you and God, and how you knew
which doors to step through and when?
[Sean] I love that. I grew up in a missionary
home,
my
parents
were
both
medical
missionaries and I just grew up with this
theology and this drive in their spirit that there’s
no place too hard or too dark for the gospel
or for Jesus. You can do anything that you set
in your heart to do as long as you’re willing to
put in the time, work, and energy. So, for me
probably the biggest thing, we don’t need to be
commissioned again and again… there is just
one commission that’s going out to all the world
and I feel like we’re called to do that. If we step
out in faith and go to where He’s calling us to
go, God will begin to open doors all over the
world. That’s what I’ve seen happen in my life,
and I’ve seen God do it in many others as well.
I just really love that my prayers would stir other
people to do that too. To take guitars, and to go
into nations that people say are impossible, and
to watch God show up and do amazing things.
