tour material. And then after the Christmas
tour is over I kind of just want a break and I
tend to say ‘no’ to playing for church services
and I take that extra time to spend with family
instead. That’s kind of how the Christmas
season has been going in my world, and also
from the perspective of other drummers that I
know during this season. It’s been cool to see
them take on other things as well. Right now, a
friend of mine, Ian O’Neil, who normally drums
with Lady Antebellum, right now he is doing a
Jazz Christmas tour for an artist, I forget her
name off the top of my head. But he’s doing
that Christmas tour now, which is a complete
switch up from what he is normally playing.
Then I know this guy Timmy who used to
play for King & Country and is now drumming
for Chris Tomlin full time, and they’re doing a
Christmas tour. It’s just really cool because no
matter what artist you play for, if they happen to
have a Christmas record, it’s going to be a little
bit different than what is normal. It’s kind of fun
to work during the Christmas season, but also,
it’s an opportunity to play some music that is
not normal to that artists repertoire.
[WM] How do you balance being plugged in
at Church during a time of year that has a ton
of gig/touring opportunities?
