CUT CAPO FAITHFUL NOW BY VERTICAL WORSHIP | Mitch Bohannon 2020, the year of COVID. These times can be synonymous with fear, anxiety, unknown, depression… the list can go on. As I was working in my yard, I had a worship mix playing from my phone and this song came up. I know I had heard it when it first came out, but it seemed to speak to me differently this week. When the song finished playing, I hurried off my gloves to get to my phone and hit repeat. I really needed that reminder of God’s faithfulness. Right now with all that’s going on, I believe the church as a whole needs the reminder of His faithfulness. It’s so easy to lose sight of God and get focused on the situations around us. We’re supposed to learn those lessons! If you’re not familiar with this song, sit back and listen… then, let’s get the church resonating with the sound of God’s faithfulness! As with many of the songs from Vertical Worship, the chord progression is fairly simple and it lends itself beautifully to the cut capo. If you’re new to the cut capo, look up other lessons I have on YouTube and I believe you’ll find a place for it on your worship platform. The song is in the key of “B,” but is more comfortable to me in the key of “A.” To play with the recording, you’ll use the same fingerings I show you in the video and add a full capo on fret 2 and move the cut capo to fret 4. In the video, I’ll show you playing the song with the cut capo in standard position on fret 2 and then also playing with capos on frets 5 and 7 (still the key of “A”). With the second guitar having capos higher up the neck, it can give a great mandolin effect. There, I started the song with fingerpicking so to stay away from the main acoustic. When the song builds, I used a fuller strum in order to double the main guitar. I even added a third guitar playing standard tuning in the last build.
