Breathe Shane Barnard and Shane Everett have been blessing the church with great music since 2002. Eighteen years and thirty albums later, their latest release Vintage is a collection of songs that will take listeners on a stroll down memory lane back to the songs that began the worship movement. The ten song album features some of the most iconic worship offerings from the past 3 decades wrapped in a warm acoustic coffee-house vibe. A few of the standout tracks include the classic Rich Mullins tune, “Awesome God” with some outstanding acoustic guitar work and tight harmonies that would make Mr. Mullins proud. “As the Deer” which is sung with heartfelt vulnerability and as with many tracks on the album, the simple musical arrangement “In the Secret” was always one of my favorite songs as a young church worker and I probably played it way more than I should have. Here, Shane and Shane do an incredible job of bringing back to life this beloved Andy Park tune with a more driving feel before injecting a surprise chorus of another classic, “You Are My All In All” which works amazingly. “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” receives new musical life with rhythmic congas and fingerpicking while personally reminding me of the years I spent as a camp-counselor leading students in worship around a campfire so long ago. “Breathe” wraps up the album with acoustic guitars and gorgeous floating harmonies as Shane and Shane worship with passion and vulnerability. The newly penned tag is lyrically on point as they fervently declare, “Oh Lord I wanna yearn for you, I wanna burn with passion over you and only you.” The songs of Vintage still have merit and a place in the hearts of many believers around the world. This album exceeded my expectations and was by no means cheesy. Shane and Shane are vocal and arrangement masters and their heart for worship is in full effect here. These melodies are timeless and serve as great reminder that just because a song was written 30 years ago, doesn’t mean it is no longer relevant to the church today. These are songs that shaped who many of us are and they should be honored, remembered and sung just as loud as they were as when they were written. 1. Opening Prayer 2. More Than Words (feat. Alvin Love) 3. In a Little While 4. Reconciler 5. Shepherd (feat. Leeland) 6. I’ve Got a Reason (feat. Chaundra Jefferson) 7. Sing a Song Part 2 (feat. Aaron Cole) 8. Claim It All (feat. Taylor Browning) 9. Here For Jesus 10. Available (feat. Dwight Johnson) Nashville Life Music is the soundtrack of Nashville Life Church, a local worshiping community that started out of CeCe Winans' living room nine years ago. Their latest release, Here For Jesus is unlike anything currently playing on Christian radio. Instead of endless cookie cutter songs that are lead-singer focused with a few smatterings of harmonies and maybe a smidge of crowd ambience thrown in, Here For Jesus puts the emphasis on choral leadership which gives the album a very congregational feel. Musically this album harks back to the height of the 1970’s disco/funk era with most tracks featuring funky bass lines, clean and jazzy 30 August 2020 Subscribe for Free...
