[WM] The interesting thing is that a post of a pedal board will potentially get a lot more likes than one on how to play slide in tune. But, that subject-specific post may actually have way more impact on the lives of the people who follow you. How do you strike that balance? [Chris] I think a lot of what happens there is that you listen to your audience. If people are asking a lot of questions about a particular subject obviously I need to talk about that, because that’s what’s going to help them. So, I think that’s how it helps the balance, you just have to really listen to them. [WM] What are some of the needs you’re missional about serving for the people who follow you? [Chris] I think the needs that I’ve seen that guitar players need to work on is a lot of their tone. Especially within the church environment, which is why I’ve taken a lot of time to do these presets with these multi-effect pedals, because I also realize that not everybody has a $3,500 pedal board. I try to go to where they’re at, find the equipment that they’re using, spend time with that equipment, and find the best tones that I can get with that equipment. That way they can have that exact same sound and they can better their tone. I’ve noticed that the need a lot of people have is just fine-tuning their sound, so I’ve come in and tried to help them do that. You’ve got to find your sound, just not a reality to be able to buy a tube amp some time now. The band I’m touring with especially one that will go well with the church. with a full-blown pedal board if you’re there, now is specifically geared toward the church. they’ve had to figure out other ways to do it. Gretsch guitars have a very round sound, [WM] Not only is there is a lot more poverty in So what these people do is just grab whatever they’re very harmonic, and within the church Latin America, but the gear there is way more guitar they can grab and then they get a multi- environment that fits perfectly. So I’ve just expensive. Can you share your perspective on effects pedal, and that’s all they can do. That’s become a huge fan of what they do, and not this reality? just the reality of the situation, and that’s why I only that, but I’ve been able to get to know the try to find the equipment that they’re using and company themselves and they have treated me [Chris] A lot of us in the States have no idea find the best way to tweak it and send that out. so well, I love them. I just want everybody to how that works, and it’s actually very important, That way they can use those resources. know who they are. stuff like that… they’re just not out there. The [WM] Speaking of gear, let’s start with your [WM] I’ve also seen you using some T-style thing is I know some people who had boutique guitars. What are your go to instruments and guitars from Anmiek. Can you tell us about stores there who tried to put out high quality what do look for in the instruments you play? those instruments? [Chris] I’ve been a big fan of Gretsch for quite [Chris] The owner of Anmiek is a buddy of especially with amplifiers, certain guitars and guitars, and they just went under because nobody could spend $35,000 on a guitar.
