know them because I’m from Houston. I
would see Marcos at Lakewood when I started
playing there on Sundays. We did some tours
together with a different artist. I started traveling
with this other artist, Coalo Zamorano (who is
his son-in-law), so you know they’re family. I
would see Marcos around. To have the chance
to produce his new single for me was just a
huge deal because I’m just a big personal fan of
who he is and his songs. Then on social media
he was super cool with it, his drummer did a
track too, and he did the drums, and we put
that out on social media as well. For me it’s just
a huge honor to be able to work with him.
[WM] Making the jump from a guitar player
to a Dove-winning producer doesn’t happen
overnight. Can you chart that path?
mine. His name is Emmanuel Espinosa, and our industry. I got the chance to meet him a he was in a band called Rojo. Rojo was one of while back when I did some stuff at Lakewood. [Chris] My Dad is actually the one who started
the top selling bands, and they were in the top The thing is, CanZion, which is his company, is me off into music, and I owe a whole lot of what
of the charts for years. They stopped playing, based out of Houston. So, a lot of the people I do to what he did in my life. He’s been the
but now they’re back together. He’s produced that work on his records, I got a chance to biggest influence on me. I never got a chance to
some of the biggest (Latin) artists like Marcos
Witt, and all of the Rojo stuff, so I’m kind of a
fan of his. He’s an amazing producer and an
amazing bass player, just wonderful.
So, he started Anmiek and they do basses and
guitars. He reached out to me a while back and
sent me some guitars to demo out. I believe in
him and believe in his company, so I’ve used a
lot of their guitars in the productions that I do,
and sometimes when I tour with a band I’ll take
one of their guitars with me. He is based in the
States, but I believe they are made in Korea.
I believe in him and I believe in his company,
that’s why I play them, they sound great.
[WM] You also have a connection to Marcos
Witt. I saw the video of you playing slide guitar
on one of his singles. How did you guys get
connected?
[Chris] It’s kind of hard to be in the Latin
world to not know who Marcos Witt is, and
not have sung his songs in church. All of the
Spanish churches have grown up with Marcos
Witt songs, he’s probably the main pioneer of
