Iceland, Faroes & Shetlands’ cruise-tour package
Discover the dramatic and unique
landscapes of Iceland and Scotland
with this ‘Iceland, Faroes & Shetlands’
cruise-tour package. The trip kicks off in
Tilbury, London on the 5 July 2018 with
two nights in 4-star accommodation
before embarking on Voyages to
Antiquity’s Aegean Odyssey for a
15-night cruise.
After two days at sea, Aegean
Odyssey calls into Lerwick in the
Shetland Islands, where passengers
can witness the region’s musical
heritage or marvel at the gorgeous
scenery.
Heimany is the first port of call in
Iceland, which offers opportunities
for hiking, sightseeing or visiting the
famous volcanic eruption site. The
next day, passengers can explore
the cosmopolitan capital of Reykjavik
or Thingvellir National Park, home of
Iceland's parliament from the 10th to
6
Issue 27
18th centuries.
Explore the surrounding wilderness
via walking trails at Videy Island or
experience the natural wonders of the
lava area at Heidmork, and the steam
signals at ‘Smoky Bay’.
Sail to the port of Isafjordur on the
edge of the Arctic Circle, where the
Westfjords Heritage Museum has
exhibits on the town’s maritime history
including a collection of old fishing
boats, and then on to Akureyri with its
green pastures, waterfalls and whale-
filled bays. Call at Husavik a charming
harbour surrounded by snow-covered
mountains and the geothermal Myvatn
Nature Baths.
Aegean Odyssey then moves to
Tóschavn, the capital of the Faroe
Islands in Denmark. The small colourful
houses are a pleasant attraction, while
Skansin has an old fortress built over the
harbour.
The last two stops offer a taste of
Scottish history. Scrabster is famous
for its surfing, church ruins, castles
and the Heritage Museum. Rosyth,
approximately 19km from Edinburgh, is
best known for its former Royal Naval
Dockyard.
Finishing the voyage in style in London,
the small ship sails up the river Thames
and docks at Tower Bridge on 22
July. Pricing starts at AU$8,425 per
person for a twin premium ocean view
stateroom and also includes 4-star
accommodation in London, transfer
from the hotel to the cruise port, nine
tours in four countries on the cruise, all
onboard gratuities, meals, wine, beer
and soft drinks with dinner, and lectures
by guest speakers.
