WORLD TRAVEL
PART 1: A Fantastic River Cruise
– From the French Riviera to Paris with Avalon River Cruises
by Kerry & John Treacy
The perfect prelude to our Avalon
River Cruise on Avalon Affinity was our
stay in Monte Carlo, relaxing at the
Fairmont Hotel. Four years ago during
a press group tour we enjoyed a
delicious seafood buffet at the famed
hotel along-side the famous Monte
Carlo Casino and overlooking the
spectacular harbour. We voiced our
desire to return and spend more time
at this remarkable establishment. This
was our third visit to Monte Carlo and
sincerely hope it is not our last.
We really love this place with the old
and new towns, French fashions, history
and of course its association with
screen legend Grace Kelly, the actress
who became a Princess, retracing all
the areas we discovered on earlier
visits and walked and walked. The
dismantling of the stands for the Grand
Prix was still in progress with the race
having been decided a week earlier.
We suggest that if you have an
Avalon River Cruise starting or finishing
in Monte Carlo you should allow
yourself at least 3 or 4 days to enjoy
and explore this beautiful location.
In our next issue of Cruising News we
will feature a special report on Monte
Carlo.
Now back to our River Cruise on
Avalon Affinity.
The Cote d’Azur France is known
world-wide for its beauty, deep blue
Mediterranean Sea, its glamorous villas,
millionaire yachts and famous people
and events.
