WV15 NF: JACKIE

2

Jackie Leuenberger is back for another shot at WorldVision. Being the first artist to represent Switzerland since its return to the conest, she had a lot to prove that the landlocked nation could eventually be a force to be reckoned with some day down the road.

In the national final for WorldVision 15, she presented two songs to a very enthusiastic crowd in Kreuzlingen in two very different styles: up-tempo and slow ballad. The public was left to decide which song she would take to Miami, 10 points awarded to the song the individual voter liked the best. In the end, the vote was tied at 30-30, and the entry would eventually come down to a coin toss. The result of the tiebreaker swung in favor of the up-tempo "O-oo!", and so the Swiss delegation jetted off to the States, but not before a send-off concert in Bern a couple of days before departure.

The "Swiss Sheryl Crow" and her band gave the fans in Miami during the first semifinal a great performance with some strong backing vocals from a recent Eurovision representative and a catchy melody. However, it was only enough to attract 18 points from 4 nations including an 8 from Wales, leaving Jackie in 20th place overall in the semi and no opportunity to perform in the final.

"I am thrilled that I'm getting a second chance with a song I think will impress people this time," she told the magazine recently. "As I've said many times, I want people to feel something through my music, and I believe that the song that was on the wrong end of the tiebreaker will do just that. It also helps that I have a great duet partner too."

Can Jackie eventually get back to WorldVision and improve on her standing?

Jackie's WV15 entry was decided by a coin toss. Will she get a chance to improve on her standing from Miami?
