The Dance Worlds TM

Scoring

Significant differences distinguish the Senior divisions from the Open and Junior divisions at The Dance WorldsTM. The scoring panels are genre-specific and will remain consistent from round to round. Each performance will earn a score for that day’ s performance in relation to the other teams competing that day, within that division. You should expect scores from Prelims, Semifinals and Finals to be different as you are competing against different teams and / or against different performances with each day being its own competition. Due to the scoring differences between the Senior and Open divisions( use of 10ths vs whole and half numbers), you should expect to see a variation in point spread within these divisions. Be sure to review the following so that you are familiar with these nuances.
SCORING FOR SENIOR DIVISIONS
• Teams will be scored on the USASF Dance scoresheet
• 100-point scale.
• Judge’ s may utilize tenths( ex. 8.2, 9.1).
• All judges’ scores will be calculated into final score.
• Routine time minimum 1:45 to a maximum of 2:15 minutes.
• Follow USASF Dance Rules.
POM USAGE If hands-free poms are being utilized it is strongly recommended choreography demonstrates clearly the proper use of the poms. The performance surface must be clear of any pom material to be considered legal. Any instances of usage lacking clarity will result in a deduction.
SCORING FOR JUNIOR AND OPEN DIVISIONS
• Teams will be scored on the IASF Dance scoresheet.
• 100-point scale.
• Judges may utilize half(. 5) and whole( 1.0) numbers( ex. 8.0, 8.5).
• All judge’ s scores will be calculated into final score.
• Routine time minimum 1:45 to a maximum of 2:15 minutes.
• There will no longer be a U. S. Worlds Trials round as part of the competition.
• Follow IASF Dance Rules.
• Any Open / Junior division / category that does not have one or more non-U. S. teams participating, 50 percent of the teams will move on to Finals.
