Gas Price and Subscription
The gas prise has increased again. A shock of pain immediately strikes in the enthusiast-gut? Is this it? Has the Otto motor compressed for the last time and will we continously bike to car meets with posters of our cars nailed down to the back of the bike? After the horrific experience of imagening myself in a pair of bike shorts from the back with a couple of flappy posters on the rear fender it’s easier to think clearly.
Lets see, how much do I drove my beloved cars during the summer? I maybe fill her up ten times during twelve weekends but let’s be generous and say I fill twice as much. From May to September I would fill her 20 times. 18 gallons each time is 369 gallons. Considering mile consumption I would get as far as 5436 miles. As the gas increase from 1,67 dollars to 1,79 the more cost would be 166 dollars for the entire season. In a perfect world, of course I would want the price to decrease to 0,60 dollars for a quarter of a gallon but if I can’t dictate the price myself I have to create a look a the whole-picture kind of perspective.
Therefore: The season with all the car meets it entailes, Myran in the front seat, Elvis in speakers and the morning dew on the lion paws that slowly dryes as the warm murmur warms them would cost me 166 dollars more this year. Is this where I should draw a line in the sand, park the car for good, yank into tight bike shorts and pedal to the cruising?
