The Old Dodge Dart

By: Kent Åberg

SWEDEN. This car was delivered new from the agent Saab ANA to Väja Industries in Kramfors where it served as a management vehicle in 1965.

1975

It then sold to Harnosand. After that it ended at a car dealership in Para outside, Kramfors. The seller had the nick namne Old Blackie but later was nicknamed the Silver Stallion because his hair went gray with age. The Dodge was flipped for a Dart GT there. It was sold to factory worker Robert Rådström who was then working at Väja factory and he used it for a a few years. He then sold it to a guy from Edsele named Bengt Sjödin who updated the interior with red teddy and

replaced the 273 for a 318- engine.

1983

Then I, Kent Åberg, bought the car in 1983 and I built exhaust system to it and had it go through the inspection after some years of shutdown. I remember I got a remark on noise so I went to the gas station bought two cans of soda as I drank them straight up and took a chisel and chopped holes in the them.

These I pressed into the exhaust pipes and put a metal screw that held the cans after which I went

and showed up the car again and the noise level was acceptable.

The first thing I did after it was approved was to remove the screws and rev it up so the cans took of like bullets. Then the sound I wanted was back. High with real patter.

Another incident was in the the Spring when I drove into some hefty potholes so the gas tank came off and slided on the road into the ditch. Since a had a full tank of gas I ran like a dog to plug the gas line with a wooden stick.

In with the tank in the trunk and out with a fuel can. I mounted a hose from the can which I placed behind the grill to the fuel pump and could then drive home and repair the tank brackets.
