Kurskaya Battle
(5 July – 23 August 1943)
It is said to be the greatest Tank Battle in the History!
2,000,000 people, 6,000 tanks and 4,000 airplanes took part in
this battle. The leaders of the USSR were marshal George
Zhukov and marshal Konstantin Rokossovskiy.
This battle was a very important part of the Russian
summer-autumn campaign. The operation of the Soviet marshals
was called “Kutuzov” (in honor of a Russian general). And the
German operation was called “Citadel”.
With the help of really clever and experienced leaders, brave
soldiers and patriotism the Soviet army succeeded in destroying
the main German troops. And the turning point ,which had been
started in Stalingrad, was finished in this battle.
About 900,000 of Soviet soldiers were killed, and abo
