The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine behind the upper abdominal organs.The kidney is extremely important, as it is the organ in charge of a variety of functions such as; the regulation of water, the removal of waste, production of hormones and it maintains blood value ranges.

Due to a number of health reasons, individuals may be in need of a kidney transplant, however, there is often a waiting list in which one may expect to wait for several months in order to get their turn. Unfortunately, not everyone has the patience or time, thus, many individuals may have turned to the illegal practice of tranplant tourism.

Transplant tourism is the practice of travelling from one country to another in order to have a(n) organ(s) transplant. This practice is illegal around the world, with the exception of Iran. However, despite this practice being illegal, many countries, such as China, India Pakistan, and the Phillipines have booming black markets, in which many foreigners have turned to for organ transplant. (Milne, 2009).
