Christofle
and the art of table settin
Сhristofle is one of the most famous cutlery brands in the
world. The company’s philosophy is: "The art of living, the
art of receiving guests, the art of giving gifts."
The foundation of the Christofle brand is considered to
be 1830 - the year the jeweler Charles Christofle received
a patent for the creation of silver jewelry. After all these
year, the word ‘Christofle’ has become a household name.
For the French ‘Сhristofle’ is synonymous for high-quality
silver.
Christofle has always been and remains a family enterprise
with a rich history and invaluable experience in the art of
table setting.
For 170 years, Christofle perfected ‘art de la table’, guided
by the basic principle of the founder of the brand: "The only
quality is the best."
Traditionally, the House of Christofle clients were the royal
people of France - King Louis Philippe, Emperor Napoleon
III – to whom Christofle owed much gratitude for receiving
the status of official supplier to the imperial court. One of
the most unusual was undoubtedly the order of the Indian
Maharaja in 1882. It was a silver-encrusted bed with the
figures of four women in full height, who fan the reclining
ruler with fans. And the ladies were rendered very naturally
in their naked form.
In 1935 the Christofle created a huge service known as
the ‘Transatlantic’ 45,000 items for the luxury motor ship
‘Normandy’. Christofle’s monumental projects include the
design of the hotel "Ritz", the decor of the Pope IX Pia, as
well as the Orient-Express carriages, the production of a
winged group on the roof of the Paris Opera.
Throughout its history, the Christofle brand has
cooperated and continues to cooperate with outstanding
contemporary designers. The brand anticipates fashion
trends and shapes the tastes of his era. Confirmation to
this - orders from the most eminent and influential people.
