Social responsibility Eco-EFES The company Efes Kazakhstan FE JSC is a corporate citizen. That is why we support and pay considerable attention to social ecological projects. Through the EcoEFES project, we aimed at the conservation of ecology by means of reducing plastic bag use, which has over taken the globe becoming a moral issue in the last 100-500 years. Many mammals, birds and fish are killed from plastic bags. Plastic in an animal’s gut can prevent food digestion and can lead to a very slow and painful death. There are a variety of ways for the environmental control of plastic bags. About 40 countries determined to ban the sale of plastic bags. For example, in San Francisco, USA supermarkets and network pharmacies do not use plastic bags. Hawaii was the first state that discontinued usage of plastic bags, and in Italy usage of plastic bags has been banned since January 1st 2011. Currently, consumers should have re-usable or biobags. Another aim of this project was to support a local producer of biobags, who invested in its production caring about the ecology. It was decided to distribute bags to the visitors of EXPO 2017 since the aim of the project corresponded with the subject of the exposition – ecology and new energy. Citizens of RK are interested in environmental protection. More than 100,000 biobags were handed out during the EXPO exhibition from June till September 2017. 52 world monitor * First stage – placing order to the local producer of biobags. * Second stage – making agreement with the EXPO administration. * Third stage – giving away biobags to the visitors of EXPO buying souvenirs. The project was realized by Posadi Derevo Republic Public Association. During this project, 95% of positive feedback was determined. During biobags distribution for consumers the importance of biobags usage and the difference between plastic bags and biobags was explained. Every exhibition guest was informed about the significance of using biobags. * 80% respondents did not know about the damage inflicted on the ecology by the use of plastic bags. * 90% respondents mentioned the significance of conducting the informative initiative. * 60% respondents confirmed their decision to switch to using biobags. The management of the company mentioned that all our goals were achieved to the fullest extent.
