Denis Ten
In 2014, the collected funds from the ice
show, "Denis Ten and Friends", in Astana
were sent to a6-year-old boy, Nursat
Zhakypbai, a neuroleukemia patient and
in need of expensive operations abroad.
He often held meetings and conferences
with students from various Kazakhstani
universities and schools. In 2014 he
hosteda number of motivational meetings
with leaders of student alliances in the
Akimat of Almaty, met with students of
Nazarbayev University, the international
school MIRAS and with young journalists
in the schoolchildren's palace in Astana.
At the debut world championship in
2009, Denis Ten became the sensation
of the tournament. He was the youngest
participant in the world championship at
15-years-old and his fantastic rental of
an arbitrary program brought 18,000 to
their feet at the Staples Center in Los
Angeles. At that tournament spectators
gave astanding ovation only to Denis Ten
and the winner of the championship, the
American Evan Lysacek.
And finally, in order to develop figure
skating in Kazakhstan, this world renown
athlete conducted master classes for
young skaters several times a year.
