World Values Survey (WVS) – an international research
project that studies values, religion, the country's
governance system, participation in public life, tolerance,
environmental protection, and simply the subjective
perception and well-being of people from different
countries. It reveals how values influence the life of the
state. Research began by American sociologist Ronald
Inglehart, so the classification of types of cultures bears
his name.
WVS is the only source of empirical data on the worldview
and values of people collected practically around the
world and used as a basis for reporting in places like Time,
Newsweek, The New York Times, The Economist, as well as
the World Development Report and Human Development
Report, which are prepared by UN experts.
Individualism/Collectivism: The degree to which individuals
are integrated in groups *
