Pomelatto
Bulgari
“No worries – Pomellato will never change” – reads one of the
slogans of this Italian jewellery brand. It is true that the brand
has never altered its style and main features, like: multicolored,
ease and informality. Pomellato jewellery is is exactly like this:
geometrically smooth in shape, lightweight, neat and exquisite
in design. At the same time it is a shining rainbow of non-
ferrous precious and semiprecious stones – all these features
alive for a half a century.
Meanwhile, just 15 jewellers worked at the workshop that
opened at via dei Piatti in Milan in 1967. However, they
significantly influenced the development of European jewellery
art. In the times when dresses, evening format jewellery
or bijouterie were in fashion, Mr Pino Rabolini who founded
Pomellato, decided to produce informal jewellery that could be
worn by women every day, not just for certain occasions.
Mr Sergio Silvestris, a talented designer-innovator, who has
headed up Pomellato’s creative team for 30 years, helped
Milan jeweller’s son Rabolini to accomplish this goal. Thanks
to this fortunate tandem, Pomellato became the patriarchs of
the cosmopolitan pret-a-porte genre in the world of jewellery,
considering that these continued to be handmade on a very
high level.
The main principle of jewellery design in Pomellato was
the demonstration of the natural beauty of precious and
semiprecious stones – tourmaline, aquamarine, iholit, quarts,
garnet stone, peridot, agate, topaz, citrine – modestly framed
into the gold of all colors, often made without any excessive
means of polishing. This jewellery signature – minimum rim,
maximum open stone and infinite playing with volume of both
(rim and stone) – became Pomellato company’s style that is
instantly recognized. Collections like Nudo, Cipria, Bahia were
created according to this principle and continute to be the
bestsellers of the brand. Thanks to the diverse variations of
the brand’s classic – Tango collection – Pomellato became a
specialist in the precious chains, necklaces and bracelets.
Being an innovator or pioneer in the jewellery business and
having been able to create jewellery that was consistent
with the fashion of a certain decade, Pomellato set the pace
