Invest in Big Apple city
But no one should forget about
the beautiful city in southern
Kazakhstan – Almaty. Located at
the foot of the emerald Tien Shan
ridges, it is worthy of the status
‘The Capital of Big Apples’ due to
the world-famous apples legendary
size-‘aport’. Moreover, an apple is
not only a symbol of the metropolis,
but it also has profound meaning –
the city is named after it, as Almaty
in Kazakh means ‘apple’.

Everybody knows
that New York, which
is often called the
capital of the world,
was dubbed ‘The Big
Apple’. There is no
common explanation
of this, although the
origin of the city is
associated with the
famous New York
races and jockeys’
slang – a ‘dainty’
being an apple, a
horse’s favorite snack
– thus, the ‘big dainty’
(apple).

On three sides, the city is
surrounded by the amazing
mountains of the Zailiyskiy Alatau,
at the foot of which are modern
high-rise buildings, magnificent
parks, public gardens, boulevards,
and of course, apple and other fruit
tree gardens. Almaty’s big apples
are fragrant, juicy, and can be
stored for almost seven months.
Almaty is the financial, cultural and
educational center of Central Asia.
Dynamically growing, comfortable
for work and life, the city has
rightly earned the title of the
country's economic flagship. Almaty
provides one-fifth of the country’s
GDP, about half the volume of
wholesale and about a quarter of
retail operations, and a sixth a part
of the foreign trade turnover, 60%
of the loan portfolio for secondtier banks (2015). The city donates
to the country’s budget, which
accounts for 27% of tax and nontax revenues.
