Julie Kussidi : Thank you for being here today – it means so much to us . This idea that World Monitor magazine and EUROBAK have been planning is impossible to accomplish without the support of our members and the CEO ’ s participation . So , to launch and be successful with any idea , you need EUROBAK , right ?
For our first CEO talks today , we thought of inviting an organisation that brings young presidents together . These are distinguished business people who are running their companies in Kazakhstan . I think being a member of the Young Presidents ’ Organisation ( YPO ) means that you are acknowledged worldwide as a leader in business community . We have two members of EUROBAK among our guest speakers . As Siddique Khan was at that meeting when EUROBAK was first discussed , I will start by introducing you . I think most of you know Siddique . He is the president and CEO of Globalink – this is a logistics company . I remember the times when if you wanted to relocate or come to Kazakhstan , the only answer to the question ‘ who can help me with that ?’ was actually Globalink .
Our next guest here is Marat Shotbayev . Marat is Founder and General Director of Phaeton DC , also a EUROBAK member .

What are the most important challenges that a CEO faces today ? This is a fast moving world and we live in a time of changes . What is your biggest challenge today as a CEO as you are running your companies ?

Eldar : It depends on the company , we have a number of companies , but firstly as a CEO the biggest problem that we face is a scale up . When you have the operation going you would like to scale up . Unfortunately , Kazakhstan ’ s human resources are the weakest . How to train people , how to find and select proper people , how to develop – that is the main challenge for us .
Makhmud : I agree with Eldar . When we develop , we have to consider lots of factors . There are different problems at various times . Currently , if we ’ re talking about the business we ’ re involved in specifically , the main resources are agriculture and retail . It ’ s the welfare of all our consumers that worries us the most .
