TOP TIPS TO CREATING EMPLOYEE HAPPINESS

Maddie Pozlevic , Engagement Manager at Perkbox , discusses her secret tips for creating the best culture .
1 . IMPLEMENT AN ONBOARDING STRATEGY :
Every newcomer should be greeted and welcomed in a warm way . Whether that is a welcome on board balloon , a buddy system , or a hoodie that reads ‘ today is my first day , HELP ’ – just something to help them through their first day .
2 . LIVE YOUR COMPANY ’ S VALUES :
Companies should understand that values are not just something written on the wall – create an environment where people actually live it and it becomes the most powerful tool any company can have .
3 . HOT DESK SYSTEM :
Once a month create a hot desk system where people can work from wherever they want to in order to increase creativity and develop a flexible working environment .
4 . CULTURE GUARDIANS :
Often , a company can grow very quickly and it becomes a challenge to sustain the culture of the workforce and keep it in ingrained within employees . This is where culture guardians come in as they are the key people - representing the company ’ s purpose and mission .
5 . APPROACHABLE SENIOR MANAGEMENT :
It ’ s important that your employees understand that the senior management is easily approachable and willing to listen to any ideas that will help your organisation to improve and succeed .
6 . CREATIVE ENVIRONMENT AROUND YOU :
Posters , music , funky furniture or a board of ideas – small adjustments like these will inspire individuals to do more .
9 . CULTURE BOOK :
Create a book of stories that will define your company , it ’ s values and people – who are proud to be part of the journey .
7 . CREATE AN “ IT ’ S OK TO …” LIST :
It ’ s important your employees understand that sometimes it ’ s ok to have a messy desk or say ‘ NOT NOW ’ when busy . The list will be designed to create a less stressful , more flexible environment amongst colleagues .
8 . WORK HARD , PLAY HARDER
ATTITUDE :
Every success needs to be recognised and celebrated together . Rewarding staff when the company makes an achievement is almost essential to making everyone work like a team .
1O . INTERNAL EVENTS / CHALLENGES :
It ’ s time to talk about something else , NOT work ! Introduce events to help teams get to know each other . Lunch clubs , pop quizzes , beat your boss at ping pong tournaments or movie nights in the office-these get colleagues building relationships that don ’ t necessarily involve work . It encourages those who don ’ t already work together to converse and network .
