COMMUNITY AWARDS GALA

The Woodbury Area Chamber of Commerce kicks off the year with its signature Community Awards Gala in January . This annual event honors the award recipients of the year – Business , Citizen , Educator , Nonprofit , Public Safety Worker and Ambassador . It is an upscale evening of celebration , socializing and camaraderie that includes cocktail hour , live music , formal dinner , exciting program recognizing the award recipients , silent and live auctions . This event is also a major fundraiser of the Chamber , generating revenue to support Chamber programming .
ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT
MONDAY , JUNE 7 , 2021 PRESTWICK GOLF COURSE
The annual Scholarship Golf Tournament makes a difference in lives of area students . Players hit the links at Prestwick Golf Course in early June . The format is played in a scramble , features numerous events within the tournament , including “ longest drive ” and “ closest to the pin ” contest , along with an awards ceremony and a dinner to conclude the evening . The day is filled with fun , connection and prizes !
The Chamber organized the tournament in 1986 in memory of Woodbury ’ s first City Administrator , Jim Lacina , who died in a car accident ; money was raised for his children ’ s post-secondary education . The tournament has continued and scholarships are now awarded to area high school graduating seniors on an annual basis . Over the years , the event has donated more than $ 188,000 in scholarships to local students .
