Foreword
Dear Friends and Partners,
As we enter a new year and
embark on a new chapter of the Wong
Fong story, I would like to take this time
to reflect on the past year. 2013 marks
a few important milestones for us as
we celebrate 25 years of incorporation
and 49 years of success in this business
of servicing and fabrication of heavy
commercial vehicles and crane
distribution.
2013 was a year of growth for
Wong Fong Engineering with the Wong
Fong family increasing in number from
160 staff at the start of 2013 to over 200
at the group level as we close the year.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome
these new additions to our team. The
growth in number of our team is due
mainly to the increased number of
projects by our special projects team,
the record sales of 170 units of cranes
and 70 units of hooklifts and the start
of WFRIC, the research and innovation
arm of Wong Fong, which in a short
span of time has already filed its first
Intellectual Property for Wong Fong
thus taking the first step towards our
new vision of leveraging on knowledge
and expertise.
I am also proud to announce a
record turnover of over SGD75 million
at the close of our financial year. This
success coupled with our win at the
Enterprise 50 awards in November, is
owed entirely to our team and partners
for their hard work and support. I
thank you all for the efforts put in to
make this a successful year for Wong
Fong.
On a more personal note, some
of you know that 2013 has been quite
demanding on me due to health issues.
I would like to send my heartfelt thanks
to everyone for their well wishes during
this time and assure everyone that I am
on the path to recovery.
2014 marks the start of a new
year and a new adventure for Wong
Fong. As we prepare for the future,
one of the items on our agenda for
2014 is to look at improving our work
environment. With the completion of
the renovations of 16 Tuas Avenue 6 in
2013 and the pending renovations to
improve our office and factory for 79
Joo Koon Circle, we have committed $12
million for the upgrading and are well
on our way to making Wong Fong a
better place to work in. These upgrading
efforts look at maximizing our work
space as our business grows and as our
team gets bigger. Thus the launch of
this bi-yearly newsletter is something
that I have been looking forward to,
as it gives us the opportunity to share
our successes with our staff, trusted
partners and clients.
I hope that the year of the horse
brings good fortune and good health to
all of you and your families; and I am
excited to see what 2014 has in store for
all of us.
Yours Sincerely,
Jimmy Lew
