Tr. Alok, Area 10 Chairman (Elect)
AREA 10 TEXT
The Area X TExT – FOCUS, this time was a 2 night and 3 days
affair. And was held at Whistling Woods, Dandeli from 8-10
June 2018 with Lead Facilitators – Tr. Manish Goliyan & Tr.
Pashu Chellur and Co – Facilitators – Tr. Siddharth Nayak & Tr.
Gaurav Khullar and ably lead by TExT Convenor – Tr. Tushar
Kavlekar.
Before the TExT, all the participants were asked to carry a
small gift for the person who would introduce them but no
more details were given. When they reached the hall, they
were asked to form pairs as per their room-mates and they
were supposed to introduce and speak about their room-
mate; with whom they had just spent the last hour. The take
away was that when you meet someone for the first time how
much attention do you give to this person to try to know him.
This was followed by an ‘Expectation Audit’ by MG (Manish
Goliyan) and all the participants shared what they would like
to learn in the next two days.
Post the Expectation Audit, the participants were divided into
teams of 5 each and they were given a task to prepare a
Govinda style group dance where-in all members would have
to take part. We took a break of 45 minutes and the teams
scattered throughout the property to prepare. We assembled
back late evening for dinner and drinks and all the teams
performed their choreographed dances.
The party did not stop there as we enjoyed live singing
performance by a few Tablers till late night.
ESSENCE OF TABLING – Tr. Pashu started the proceeding
with a talk on the very essence of tabling and what it means
to be a TABLER & the BROTHERHOOD between the
TABLERS.
against the ethics on how to achieve the same. It’s not always
the destination but the journey that makes the difference.
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT – The Rule of 69 – GK, talked
about arguments, what leads to arguments and how to
resolve them by understanding that two people saying
different or opposite things can both be right at the same
time. It’s about perspectives and how to understand
someone else’s view point.
This was followed by Team Building exercise. All the teams
were given some material and a fixed time to build the
longest standing tower that should also take the weight of a
pen at the top. It was nice to see different teams using
different approaches to this exercise. Some of them went with
strong foundations and shorter towers but that stood well
whereas some teams took a greater risk with the height only
to see their towers fall down at the end of time.
5 different Tabling specific case studies related to the issues
that were being faced in Area X were discussed post which
the participants took a break for the Nations High Tea. All the
participants had got some snacks from their cities and we all
enjoyed tasting some lovely food from all over Area X. This
was followed by the Chairmen, Secretary & Convener
Modules.
Participants were later divided into two teams and played the
‘KERALA BOAT RACE’ which was quite hilarious. The
entertainment for the night was quite special with a live band
performing for some time followed by some Tablers who
performed in a cross-dressing show and were quite a sport.
Setting up a MARKETPLACE - Every convenor went
individually to all the chairmen and they shared each other’s
plans for the year followed by HEART TALK with all the
participants to motivate them for the year ahead and
everyone bid their goodbyes.
RESULTS vs ETHICS – MG talked about the journey that we
shall all undertake as Tablers and there are results that every
table and chairman would want to achieve and weighed that
