There are some types of violence such as : Verbal violence Physical violence ( kicking , biting , slapping , beating , or even Strangling ) Economic violence Psychological Violence ( Emotional Violence ) Social Violence ( Controlling behavior ) etc ... ( 3 )
According to the " Violence Against Women in Turkey "( KSGM , 2009 ), 39 % of women across the country experienced physical violence , 15 % experienced sexual violence , and 42 % experienced at least one of the two violence . Another important finding obtained in this regard is that the people who use violence against women are family members and acquaintances ( father , brother , husband , ex-wife , and close relatives ). Again , according to the same research , 52 % of women shared the violence they experienced with their immediate surroundings , while only 8 % applied to official institutions and non-governmental organizations . ( 3 )
Additionally according to the results of research that have made the Günşar İçli , domestic violence is still common in Turkey , 34 % of families to physical violence , and verbal violence is seen in 53 %. This situation means the acceptance of despair . According to the data of the General Directorate of Security ( 2000-2005 ), while Turkish women faced an average of a violent crime every 3 minutes in the last 2 years , a total of 1985 women lost their lives in these incidents .
