Question 5. Being a mentor speaker is a pretty competitive industry, how do you stand out? Can I tell you the one thing I hear constantly when people buy me? They love my authenticity. So, they believe that what they see is what they get and I live by that. I don't get out there and try and pretend I'm something that I'm not. If somebody rings me up and they're asking for something specific, you know that old thing of ‘oh, I'll say yes now and I'll learn it later?’ I don't believe that, because if people are going to spend hard earned dollars with me, I want to know that I'm giving them value. What I talk about, how I put myself out there, is what I know and how I can help exactly and I will go out of my way to make sure that happens, I don’t pretend to be something I am not. Question 6. How do you market yourself and what tactics and strategies have been successful? So I guess marketing myself is probably one of my greatest downfalls if I'm being honest, because it's been such a hard transition period for me, because I loved selling a product. When I've got a product to sell, Oh my God, I am in my space. I am so comfortable, especially when I believe in it and I love it, I can just sell until the cows come home, I am in my comfort zone When I have to turn around and sell myself, I'm very uncomfortable with that. So it's taking me time and I'm still not 100% there yet, but what I do realise is that there is a difference between ego and sales. People don't have the time to stuff around so they actually want to hear what it is that you can do for them. So I've got that in my brain now, this is not about my ego, this is about telling people what I can do for them. I've had to do that sort of transitional change in my brain with my mindset to be able to cope with it and become comfortable, I've got an incredible social media following, which I've worked really hard at and I continue to work hard at because I do love people and I am interested in them, I love that whole connection and participation thing happening out there. Social media has been an incredible thing for me for, for my business, most of my work comes from social media or referrals. Question 7. As a business owner, what are your top 3 priorities? ROUTINE I've been having a lot of conversations around with this new business that I'm starting and I use the word routine a lot, and people go oh, I hate routine, and I understand both arguments on the word, but you know what, most 10 Women’s Network Magazine successful people have a routine of some sort. So, as I've been saying to people, if you just keep saying ‘oh, I hate routine, I don't want to do it’ you're just going to get that mindset. Don't call it routine, find a groovier name, find something else, but if you don't wake up and make your bed and get yourself organised and have that routine of going for walk or whatever it is that you do to get your day started, you're the dog chasing its tail. You never get anything done. I call mine my “mindset motivator”. CONSISTENCY Consistency is my absolute keyword. You’ve got to have that consistency in your day, in your life. You've got to be consistent, in sitting down and planning so you know what your day holds so that you're not wasting time. And I mean shit happens and it all gets turned about sometimes but get back to the plan as soon as you possibly can. Consistency is what get’s us to our results. I find sometimes with people, and I will put myself in this category, they give up too easily, if they had just kept going being consistent in doing the work required, the end result would be a lot different
