Women's Network August 2019 | Page 7

August/ 2019 JUST THE beginning... At the helm of the longest standing and most powerful women’s network in country is Janelle Bostock. Janelle became the Owner and Managing Director of WNA in 2017 and is changing the way women network and connect on a national level. Over this short period of time, Janelle has made some distinct changes which has seen the Network rapidly grow and evolve. Janelle’s career success includes over 25 years working in the private and public sector, not for profit organisations and running her own successful businesses. She has also been involved in event management and relationship management activities and has held Executive positions on the Australian Institute of Office Professionals Committee of Management on the National Board. Janelle is a widow with a beautiful teenage son, Harrison (affectionately known as ‘Shorty’) who is the Man Behind this Successful Businesswoman. During her late husband Bruce’s health struggles and after his passing was when the power of community became especially vital to Janelle. She had grown up with and always surrounded herself with people that loved and supported her but it during this time when she truly came to understand the importance of having a “tribe”, not just to survive but to thrive. We all know the saying “it takes a village” and nothing could be truer for Janelle. She is a firm believer in authentic connection and collaboration, as we are all reminded when she stands up at each WNA event to make a point of saying “don’t just send an email, pick up the phone and make a call”. The size of your “village” is not what matters, it’s the quality and realness of the people in it. Women’s Network Australia already had a solid foundation but Janelle has built upon it some extraordinary layers. Creating on-purpose growth, not only for the network but for the members as well. Janelle’s passion for women in business is undeniable, she knows as well as anyone the tribulations and triumphs of being in business. Her work ethic is second to none and it is obvious that she believes right to her very core the power of connection and collaboration. It’s become her purpose and passion to ensure that each member of Women’s Network Australia has a voice and is heard. Hayley Birtles-Eades and the beinc. team had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Janelle and learning more about her; and the even greater pleasure of being able to share it with you, her tribe.
